Flotten Lake Resort has been in business since 1979. At this time Abe and Paula Rempel purchased the resort from the Miller family. Back then the cabins were very rustic, with no running water or electricity. The hunting part of the business had not been established, but families from all over Saskatchewan and the USA came to enjoy the great fishing Flotten Lake has to offer.
The resort has come along way since then. The cabins were rebuilt to be fully modern offering hot and cold running water as well as electricity. A central shower-house with hot and cold running water was built for the campers. The hunting aspect of the business started with spring bear and then not long after followed with whitetail. The Mallard Lake property was purchased and there was many many hours put in navigating the trail into the site and then hauling in all the building materials so as to build the cabin and out buildings located there. It didn't take long before the hunting took off as more and more US residents realized the abundance of trophy black bear and whitetail in this part of the province.
In 2003, Flotten Lake Resort became a corporation changing it's name to Flotten Lake Resort Limited. Derrick Rempel and his wife Claire Parker started the process of purchasing the resort from Derrick's parents (Abe and Paula). The changes since the old days have not been quite so drastic but include adding satellite HDTV and microwaves to all the cabins and free wireless internet to all our guests. Also our website now offers a secure online booking feature. As of January 2011, Flotten Lake Resort Limited is proud to announce we are BBB Accredited business.
Flotten Lake Resort Limited has been passed down from one Rempel generation to the next, and with the addition of Derrick and Claire's two sons to the family just might be passed down again. We are and will remain a family run business that pride ourselves on providing a great outdoor experience to all our guests.
